Review
In 1925, the famous American writer William Faulkner wrote the short story "The Leg." In this work, it was a young student at Oxford Devi, who was to take part in the First World War and lost a leg in battle. Surreal story describes the struggle with all the evil Davy, which arose in him during the war and took on a ghostly form.
In 1991, a young film director Nikita Tyagunov decides to withdraw his debut as a screen version of this story. Write the script, he asked a familiar playwright Kozhushanova Nadezhda, who decided that the plot of the story is easy to transfer to modern realities. Since Devi was Valery Martynov, and turned into the First World War in Afghanistan.
The main role Tyagunov chosen casually got to watch an obscure young student VGIK Ivan Ohlobystin. Then I read the story of Faulkner and article about the film on Wikipedia, which explains a lot. 4 days after viewing, I realized that I can not let go of some of the scenes from the film, and especially the 10-minute dialogue Ohlobystin and Peter Mamonov. There is in this scene, something that goes deep into the soul and does not rest.
In short, this is a film about the senselessness of war and ruthlessness, about how the man who has passed through this hell, that he would never be able to live in the old way, and that the foot - this is not very strong that he to lose. Okhlobystin just perfect. Still, it's an amazing actor - a thin, lively, charming.
Advised to see "step" I do not presume. Russian films of the early 90's - this is a very material to the amateur. But if you like the aesthetics and style of shooting such films as "Assa", "Black Rose - Emblem of Sorrow", "referee", be sure to take a look and "foot." It is no wonder that it unconditionally accepted and loved, a veteran Afghan war.

ReplyDeleteLooking at the release date of the film (1991) sincerely rejoice for the director, who managed with such skill and, most importantly - convincingly convey the atmosphere and tension of the Soviet thriller (probably close to inflame passions is another domestic "thriller" called "Ghoul", but that's another story.)

ReplyDeleteI confess that I decided to see a movie just because it was listed in the credits Ivan Okhlobystin. Always thought this man of genius, and this film - another confirmation of this. So clearly show the character, experience of Martin, the protagonist of the film, perhaps, would not have been anyone.
"The Leg" film - screen adaptation of the story by William Faulkner. The story is about a young man who went through the war, his experiences of what has left an indelible mark on his soul war. The film is very hard to grasp: the whole film accompanies us oppressive atmosphere, washed-out colors, a premonition of disaster.
In general, I personally do not like films on similar subjects, too hard then at heart. But this ... must watch! Great story and script written by him, harmonious duet Okhlobystin - Mamonov. And most importantly, it makes a great deal to think about.
My verdict: look and point! Why? First, the film is good in his performance. Second, for the overall development. Third, on such topics should reflect such Nuno movies to watch! Fourth, if only for a brilliant game Ohlobystin! (He was in the movie inimitable)

The "King", unfortunately, both were out of place (Lungin wrong with the choice of actors, but he can be forgiven, too many good movies he has). The film is not here and not there. No, there is a specific location - Afghanistan. But still, everything is seen for a certain prism of unreality which plunges into shock from the ordeal of the cargo, which in itself is a soldier Valera. I dare zamteti that he carries it pretty cold, cynical and with a certain proportion of alienation, because Valerie is a great actor Ivan Okhlobystin (removed here under the pseudonym Ivan Alien). It transmits all the pain and suffering of the hero knocking the viewer a fair share of what is happening to him.
Fast frame rates, "switching" from the past to the present, and from now on the opportunity to create that same atmosphere of surreal psychedelic, which can be applied to any subject, but not to the subject of the Afghan war. But the director Nikita Tyagunov boldly experimenting and making new parts in the picture, creating sverhoriginalnyh and insane tape on human consciousness and its psychological essence exposing it all in the image of the "Afghan syndrome". And going back to thinking about the existence of Hell, the director shows us exactly the "individual" Hell, that Valera, the hero of the film, takes just such a form. I watched the film just because it was shot by Ivan Okhlobystin. The fact that there will be more and Peter was to me a pleasant surprise. In fact, we have a sample of early works of Ivan, which in my opinion he is still looking for you. Sometimes there are his own and do not have. The movie rocks like a ship in a storm is in the direction of a thriller, the drama aside, the comedy. Perhaps if the author still decided that they did shoot, it would have been more advantageous in terms of entertainment and box office, but he would have lost their identity and otherness.
